California DAR

The Santa Anita Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), derives its name from the historic Rancho Santa Anita, parts of which later became the city of Arcadia and the Los Angeles County Arboretum.

There were 20 charter members when Santa Anita Chapter, NSDAR, was organized on April 15, 1950. One charter member, Anna Fisher Wallace, was a member of the chapter for more than 50 years before her death in 2002. On September 21, 2002, Santa Anita Chapter, NSDAR, members attended the dedication ceremony of a DAR grave marker on the monument of Anna Wallace. In 2008, members attended a similar DAR grave marker ceremony in memory of Thelma Brower.

Our membership is composed primarily of women residing in Arcadia and the surrounding communities, as well as some long-distance members who maintain ties to this chapter. Our chapter includes adult women of all ages who are interested in American history, genealogy, historic preservation, education, conservation, community involvement, and patriotic endeavors.
